Praying for the lost And Agrippa said to Paul, “In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?” And Paul said, “Whether short or long, I would to God that not only you but also all who hear me this day might become such as I am (Acts 26:28-29)
As you pray for friends, neighbors, and loved ones who have not yet put their faith in Christ, pray with John 8:34-36 in mind. In these verses we see Jesus describing the state of those who have not been liberated through faith in Christ. They are enslaved to sin. Many unbelievers live under the illusion that they are free and self-determining, but Scripture is clear that, unless we are freed in Christ, we are compelled to obey sin, leading to our own destruction. Pray that the power of sin would be overcome in the lives of our friends and family, due to the entry of the gospel message into their hearts.
